An Easy Acai Bowl Recipe

  2014 brought us the new health obsession of the Acai blends and bowls, and one year later, they are still at the top of the health charts. This time last year I had no idea what an Acai berry was, and yet, overnight, they turned into a phenomenon- smoothie shops and cafes all over the US began to incorporate them into their recipes. What even is the acai berry? It is a reddish- purple fruit from the acai palm tree, which is native to Central and South America. And.. what is so good about it, you ask? Well, studies show that it is richer in antioxidants than other berries, protects our cells from blood clots, promotes healthy skin and weight loss, and boosts energy. One of the most popular forms of the acai berry is the famous acai bowls. These delicious (and colorful) smoothie bowls have become the next best health fix— whether you’re looking for an energy boosting snack or post workout fuel. Here is one simple and generic recipe that I have made before, and I find deliciously amazing. You can change up the remedy by adding things like chocolate, almond butter, or greens to your blend, and top it off with basically anything you want. Feel free to make it as unhealthy or healthy as you’d like! Ingredients Acai Puree: 1 pack of frozen unsweetened acai berry pulp (found in most grocery stores) 1/2 banana 1/2 cup strawberries 1/2 cup blueberries 1/2 cup milk of your choice (I prefer soy or almond) Toppings: 1/4 cup granola Coconut Shavings Cocoa nibs  1/2 small banana, sliced Drizzle of honey  Instructions

  1. Prepare acai puree by simply placing all the acai puree ingredients in a blender, and blend until smooth
  2. Poor the smoothed puree into a bowl
  3. Add the toppings of yo
  4. ur choice (be sure to make it pretty!)
  5. Eat up!!!! Yum 😛
